Gran Culom in action

Gran Culom was imported from the island of Menorca in June 2002, just after winning the National Breed Championship. He was the first Stallion of the Menorquina breed to be imported into the UK.

The Menorquina has recently been accepted as an autonomous breed society by the Cria Caballar and has been granted its own stud book. Visitors to Menorca who have witnessed the annual St Juan festival will have seen the famous black stallions that parade on their hind legs amongst the crowds of revellers and compete in jousting competitions over the two days of the festival.

Gran Culom is a former star performer at the festival and specialised in winning the jousting! Gran Culom is 16.2hh and 10yrs old. He is the sire of over 50 foals in Menorca, including show champion young stock and performance horses.
